Technology Executives Review Webinar | September 2026 – Includes Special Report on AI Use in Restaurants and Hospitality

Sep 30, 2026

The Technology Executives Review® September 2026 Month-End Edition is now available to watch on demand.

In this edition, Alex Jarett is joined by Tim Walter, CIO & VP of Edward Don & Company, for a discussion covering AI & Advanced Technologies, Technology Leadership, Industry News, and the growing impact of AI on business and society.

This edition also includes a Special Report on AI Use in Restaurants and Hospitality.

Key Takeaways:

    • Successful AI projects should begin with the business problem, not the technology. Tim emphasizes that organizations should first determine what they are trying to solve and what business outcome they want before deciding whether AI is the right tool.

    • AI projects can fail when organizations automate existing processes without first improving them. New technology applied to an outdated process can simply create a more expensive version of the same problem.

    • AI costs are becoming a bigger management issue. Token usage can grow quickly as employees experiment with AI, making it increasingly important for organizations to understand how the technology is being used and whether that usage is producing measurable value.

    • Employee adoption remains another side of the AI challenge. While some employees can spend too much time experimenting with AI, others remain reluctant to use it at all. Technology Leaders need to address both adoption and responsible usage.

    • Restaurants are already using generative AI to create food imagery and marketing content, but poor quality control can create unexpected problems. AI-generated images can contain subtle mistakes that distract or even repel customers, reinforcing the need for human review.

    • Autonomous delivery, voice AI, predictive inventory systems, and smart commercial kitchen technologies are creating new opportunities for restaurants, but real-world operating conditions will determine how quickly some of these technologies can scale.

    • Hospitality companies are expanding AI-powered concierge services, dynamic pricing, and energy management. At the same time, customers still expect access to a human when automated systems cannot resolve their problem.

    • AI governance and liability will become increasingly important as autonomous AI agents are given the ability to take actions. Organizations need appropriate guardrails around security, data, decision-making, and the systems employees are allowed to use.

    • Shadow AI is evolving. The risk is no longer limited to employees using unapproved tools. Sensitive or confidential information can also be entered improperly into approved enterprise AI platforms, creating new data governance and security challenges.

  • AI infrastructure is becoming a community and economic issue as well as a technology issue. The rapid expansion of data centers is raising questions about electricity demand, water usage, infrastructure costs, and how communities should balance economic development with local impact.
